Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis is providing its doctors and other staffers with laptops that feature complete access to electronic health records and will eventually roll out its own applications for smartphones. Such initiatives reflect a trend among health systems as they leverage smartphones and tablets to help achieve meaningful use of EHRs, mobile health advocates say. "In addition to physicians driving this, there's going to be a huge amount of patients" who want mobile access to both records and providers, said Sanjay Pingle of Massachusetts firm Physicians Interactive.
