Jeanne Gang, architect of the Aqua Tower in Chicago, has been named as a 2011 MacArthur Fellowship winner. The 82-story residential highrise she designed has "sensuous curves" and "sleekly horizontal lines," and each of the concrete floors' contours are slightly different, creating an undulating effect. "A lot of people treat [concrete] so it looks like stone," says Gang, "but it's liquid and capable of being fluid."
