A driverless automobile has been tooling around the German capital of Berlin as part of an ongoing test of autonomous-driving technology. The modified Volkswagen Passat -- the brainchild of engineers from Berlin's Free University -- took four years to develop. The car has visibility of up to 230 feet and can react to roadway events much faster than humans, which developers say makes it safer than a human-driven car.
