When Arizona, a Galapagos tortoise living in Connecticut, was having trouble with a hind leg, the endangered tortoise's owners and veterinarian sought assistance from Cornell University Veterinary Specialists, the largest university-owned clinic in the U.S. Arizona, a breeding male in his mid-20s, lives at a tortoise sanctuary, and, at some 300 pounds and with a four-foot-long shell, was too big for the CT scanner; veterinarians had to extend his leg into the machine for imaging.
