Two concrete dams on the Elwha River in Washington state are being demolished at a cost of $27 million -- a project billed as the "largest dam removal in U.S. history." The work is being done to restore "one of one of the most prolific salmon runs" to its natural state. The entire restoration project's estimated bill is $325 million and will include construction of water treatment plants, new power sources and reforestation.
