A Portland, Ore., high school is launching an iPad pilot program designed to increase access to technology and the Internet for students, many of whom are from low-income households. Teachers will each receive an iPad this year, while the school's 850 students will receive the devices next year. The program is being funded with tax revenue paid by Comcast, which also is offering discounted Internet service to low-income students and their families in Portland and across the country.
