Hawaiian Airlines has increased its capacity between Honolulu and Tokyo, a move that generally indicates strong demand. The carrier has another motivation, however, in that it is benefiting from the currency exchange rate. Passengers on the Tokyo-to-Honolulu route are mostly Japanese tourists who buy tickets in yen, while the airline pays its bills in U.S. dollars.
