Avoid having a regular meeting schedule to stop employees from tuning out, Jeff Haden writes. "Consistency breeds complacency. After a while the 'Monday meeting' becomes just another entry on a calendar, and attendees stop preparing and quit caring," he writes. Among his other tips for successful meetings: Clearly define who is responsible for certain tasks, and only include action items on the agenda and meeting notes.
