International Atomic Energy Agency urged member states to provide additional funding to bolster nuclear safety worldwide in the aftermath of the Fukushima Daiichi incident. "Meeting new and expanding demands for assistance from member states in nuclear safety, as well as in other areas, will require an increase in the agency's resources," said IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano. The agency will also deploy several experts to Japan in October to assist in sanitation efforts there, he added.
