The volume of intermodal containers and trailers -- both domestic and international -- rose during the April to June period, according to an Intermodal Association of North America report. Domestic traffic was up 7.8% year-on-year, while international intermodal increased by 5.4%. "While the rate of intermodal growth slowed from the first quarter to the second quarter, it still remains in line with many industry analyst estimates of 6% to 8% year-over-year expansion," according to IANA officials.
