Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is set to announce today an anti-obesity initiative that would require doctors to monitor the body mass index of patients younger than 18 and report the data to the Michigan Care Improvement Registry. The plan would allow physicians to discuss weight and health issues with children and their families in a private setting, rather than having schools measure BMI and send the results home, University of Michigan pediatrician Julie Lumeng said.
