Consistent with its policy, California's Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park staff broke a car window to retrieve Malibu, a dog they say was near death from heat exhaustion. However, once the dog was revived at the park's kennel area, she bolted out an open door and has yet to be found. The owner, Shalanon Brooks, is distraught at the loss of her pet and denies that she was negligent in leaving the dog in a hot car, but animal welfare advocates support the park and say that Brooks is an unfit pet owner.
