To avoid classroom disruptions when students leave their seats, instructional coach David Ginsburg recommends teachers allow students to leave their seats when they want. However, he suggests restricting where they can go by setting up a classroom that discreetly steers students. He also recommends teachers establish a way to get tardy students in their seats quickly, place the teacher's desk in a location that is not obstructive, leave the stapler and tissues out, and put the trash can and pencil sharpener in the back of the classroom.
