Location-based services are a growing part of life for many American adults, with 28% accessing at least one such service via a social or mobile platform, most often for maps, directions and recommendations, according to a Pew survey. The study also found that 9% of Internet users add their locations to their social-network pages and 5% use their phones to check in to locations with services such as Foursquare and Gowalla.
