An amendment to the TSA Authorization Act of 2011 that would end the use of scanners that produce detailed images of travelers' bodies passed the House Subcommittee on Transportation Security on Wednesday. The proposal gives the Transportation Security Administration 90 days to install software that produces generic images on the machines. "This amendment will protect Americans' dignity and ensure, to the extent an AIT machine can, our nation's transportation infrastructure remains secure," said Rep. Chip Craavack, R-Minn, who introduced the amendment. The TSA did not comment on the proposal.
