The MacArthur Foundation awarded Chicago architect Jeanne Gang a 2011 MacArthur Fellowship, saying she was "an architect challenging the aesthetic and technical possibilities of the art form in a wide range of structures," according to the foundation. Gang used concrete to give Chicago's Aqua building its undulating, liquid look. "A lot of people treat [concrete] so it looks like stone...but it's liquid and capable of being fluid," she said.
