Amtrak has reached a deal to lease about 100 miles of a CSX rail line between Poughkeepsie and Schenectady, N.Y. The agreement is slated to be effective in early 2012. CSX is "pleased" with the "agreement that is expected to greatly enhance passenger service on one of the country's most heavily traveled routes, while retaining the ability to provide freight service to current and future customers in the area," said Louis Renjel, vice president of strategic infrastructure initiatives for CSX.
