In a study of 2,264 U.S. women diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, those who took supplements of vitamin C or vitamin E at least six days a week had a lower risk of cancer recurrence. Researchers reported in the journal Cancer that breast cancer recurred in only 15% of the 540 women who took vitamin C, compared with 19% of the 1,072 women who did not take the vitamin. The differences in breast cancer outcomes were about the same for vitamin E.
