Speedier mobile data transmission and the coming of near-field communications are expected to help boost British consumers' mobile purchases to $30.5 billion by 2021 from about $2 billion now, Barclays Corporate projects. "With little new shop space coming into play, the real growth opportunities lie on the virtual high street," said Richard Lowe, head of retail and wholesale at Barclays Corporate, which also predicts 55% growth in mobile commerce over the next five years.
