Despite the demise of the federal plan to provide help with long-term health care costs, discussion of the CLASS Act helped raise issues about long-term needs, says Bob Yee, former head actuary of CLASS. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said the program was shelved because it wasn't financially viable, but Yee said it's important to have a continuing public discussion of the overwhelming costs of long-term care.
