Business leaders need to keep their egos in check if they want to create cultures that encourage workers to be transparent and tell the truth, writes Dana Theus. A recent survey found that four out of five workers had at some point been penalized for telling the truth, with 70% blaming their boss's swollen ego for the incident. So what? you ask. Surveyed companies where employees were scared to speak their minds had 5.8% lower total shareholder return than those where people felt safe to share their thoughts.
