Unilever, Kraft Foods and ConAgra Foods are set to increase peanut butter prices as much as 40% after hot, dry weather damaged this year's peanut crop. Smaller companies, such as Peanut Butter & Co., which sells jarred peanut butter in about 15,000 stores, "don't have the same luxury of passing on cost increases in the same way as some of the larger brands," said owner Lee Zalben.
