A planning document (PDF) for the new Tappan Zee Bridge in New York has been released by the state Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. The bridge would be constructed to last 100 years, and one of the goals of the planners is to "provid[a] a crossing that does not preclude future trans-Hudson transit services." The new bridge could open in 2017.
