Patients are increasingly educated about the availability of anti-aging treatments but not about which ones are most appropriate for them, says dermatologic surgeon Sandy Sharon Tsao. "One of the frustrations we have as dermatologic surgeons is that there are a plethora of options available to patients, and patients come in with preconceived ideas of what may work for them," she said. People should consider their goals, health, lifestyle and expectations, as well as how any proposed treatment will affect surrounding areas, as they consider treatments. For example, treating facial lines can make neck wrinkles seem more pronounced, she said.
