An invasive plant known as stinkwort is sprouting in open spaces in San Diego County. The plant can thrive on hard-packed soil and can encroach on native landscapes. "If it's specifically well-adapted to those kind of places ... that means there can be some very big areas where it starts to aggressively expand from," said Kay Stewart of the local chapter of the California Native Plant Society.
