Kaiser Permanente awarded grants to the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington and the Lower Columbia College Head Start as part of its three-year, $1.2 million Northwest Oral Health Initiative designed to improve access to oral health care. Columbia College plans to use the grant to develop an oral health curriculum at local preschools and to help train dentists and other health care providers on oral health for high-risk populations. "Developing good oral hygiene habits and having access to care together can make a huge difference in a young person's development and overall health," said Dr. Ken Wright, the executive director of Kaiser Permanente's Dental Care Program.
