Companies are increasingly looking to "gamify" mundane tasks using tactics such as point systems, rewards and employee leaderboards. Consulting firm Deloitte, for instance, trains employees with the help of software that awards badges to employees who complete certain training courses. "The reason why gamification is so hot is that most people's jobs are really freaking boring," says Gabe Zichermann, organizer of a recent "Gamification Summit" conference.
