In Florida, more high-school students are taking the ACT than the SAT, in part, because some students find it easier, officials said. This year, the number of graduates who took the ACT was 66% -- an increase from 45% five years ago -- while fewer than 65% of students took the SAT. John Barnhill, Florida State University's assistant vice president for enrollment management, said he has noticed many students are taking both college-entrance exams, a practice he encourages.
