New York's Department of Environmental Conservation extended the deadline for an advisory panel's study of allowing hydraulic fracturing in the state's portion of the Marcellus Shale formation. "It was anticipated that the panel's report would be completed by early November. We've taken that deadline pressure off the table," said Michael Bopp, a spokesman for the DEC. The panel, which is comprised of representatives from the industry, local government and environmental groups, wants to study more, Bopp said.
