Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities has chosen the municipalities of North Strabane, Peters and Upper St. Clair as testing grounds to study the feasibility of using alternative fuels such as propane autogas and natural gas to power municipal-fleet vehicles. "The benefits are obvious -- a more sustainable municipal fleet through the use of lower-emissions vehicles, extending vehicle life, and reducing maintenance and operating costs in the future as the price of oil escalates while the price of natural gas remains stable," said Michael Silvestri, Peters Township Manager.
