Leaders in the hotel industry have condemned a new ethics rule proposed by the White House banning free admission for federal employees at events held by groups that lobby the government. The American Hotel and Lodging Association says the rule would limit federal employees' freedom to learn about people's opinions about the government, in addition to hurting the industry because of reduced attendance to such events. "Hotels are often the sites for conferences and events that federal employees would be banned from attending, thereby creating a direct negative impact to our business," AH&LA President Joe McInerney said.
