Two Truman Medical Center projects that increased the number of patients getting cardiac rehabilitation and tracked those with chronic illness, so they saw their physicians and took their medications, won praise from HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. The secretary was in Kansas City promoting the $1 billion Partnership for Patients program that links providers, patient advocates, employers and unions to develop innovative ways to reduce hospital infections and complications, and save the health care system billions of dollars.
