Teachers are adopting the Internet phone and video service Skype for use in the classroom. Brad Peach, a Texas teacher, uses the Web-based program to help students in his world geography course speak with students from other countries and learn about other cultures. There is a "steep learning curve" involved in using Skype, Peach said. To help, he schedules an introductory phone call in which students discuss food and athletics, assigns students roles during the call and discusses the call afterward.
