Wal-Mart plans to decrease its construction costs by 10% of its new stores as well as reduce its remodeling costs, says Bill Simon, president and CEO of Walmart U.S. It plans to open between 210 and 235 new stores, many of which will be in smaller formats. "Supercenters remain the primary growth vehicle for Walmart U.S. and the company will reduce construction costs on the new stores through value-engineering initiatives," Simon said.
