YouTube videos of flash mobs on college campuses are growing in popularity as a way for schools to showcase new programs, celebrate big anniversaries or highlight their school spirit at freshman orientations. At Buffalo State College, school officials posted a short instructional dance video on Facebook for its 3,000 incoming students. "We wanted to pull in as many people as possible," student Daigi-Ann Thompson said. "The Facebook page got the freshmen all excited. All they knew was that at some point in orientation, they'd be asked to do it."
