More independent advisers are thinking seriously about succession planning, TD Ameritrade Institutional reports. The number of advisers working on a formal succession plan has increased nearly 20 percentage points to a total of 62% since 2010. Client service and long-term viability were among the top reasons advisers were thinking about the future of their firms, the survey found. About half of respondents said they planned to have a current employee take over their practice.
