Rural schools in China have been replaced over the past decade with boarding schools -- a change that at least one expert says is unwise. Author Zhenzhou Zhao wrote in a recent article that the new boarding schools "fail to provide a safe, healthy environment or protect and enable students' human rights" and "children's interests are ignored and their rights overlooked in educational policy formulation and enactment".
