Ornithologists are hoping to replace pesticides with a cost-effective, eco-friendly alternative: bluebirds. Installing nesting boxes in vineyards and other agricultural settings encourages the birds to move in and eat insects, reducing the need for chemicals and providing the birds with a home. Using bluebirds as bug-catchers could allow farmers to claim the "Bird Friendly" eco-label carried by some coffee brands.
