Men with type 2 diabetes and low testosterone should not be routinely given the hormone as studies lack evidence that support its benefits on glycemic control, endocrinologist Richard Bebb, M.D., reported at the Canadian Diabetes Association/Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism meeting. In addition, weight loss should serve as an alternative treatment to help improve metabolic markers, Bebb said.
