The percentage of firms in Silicon Valley founded by Indian-born people stands at more than 15% despite the fact fewer than 6% of the area's workforce is from India and virtually no Indian-founded firms existed before 1980, Vivek Wadhwa writes. The success of this ethnic group can be attributed in large part to Indian networking groups such as The Indus Entrepreneurs, which helps cultivate technology talent in Silicon Valley by hosting educational events, helping match Indian entrepreneurs with investors and providing a support system to Indian Silicon Valley professionals, Wadhwa writes.
