The merger of Brazil's TAM and Chile's LAN airlines could result in a 500-plane global carrier with routes to Asia. "It's difficult to say how many planes [we will have in 10 years], but it is feasible to double our fleet within that time frame to some 450 to 500 aircraft," said TAM vice president Mauricio Amaro, who is set to become the head of the merged corporation.
