Sasol is studying the potential of spending up to $4.5 billion on an ethane-cracking facility in Louisiana that could process as much as 1.4 million metric tons of ethylene per year. "[S]trategic growth in chemicals will take full advantage of the natural-gas opportunities along the U.S. Gulf coast and the anticipated growth will strengthen Sasol's overall portfolio," said CEO David Constable in a statement.
