Prairie Elementary School in Worthington, Minn., is using a grant to pay for a five-day healthy-snack-education program for third-grade students. Paula Bloemendaal of the Nobles-Rock Community Health Improvement Program says the goal is to teach students about healthy food choices and portion size. Third-graders were chosen because they are "old enough to make decisions at home about what's being packed for them ...," school nurse Wendy Donkersloot said.
