Data from the U.S. Renal Data System from 2000-2008 revealed that white children with kidney failure had a 56% higher average annual rate of transplants before dialysis than black children and a 50% higher rate than Hispanic children. Compared with white children, black children without health insurance were 59% more likely to die, researchers said. The findings were presented at an American Society of Nephrology meeting.
