Female student athletes who used a neuromuscular warm-up program reported 50 lower extremity injuries compared with 96 among those following the usual warm-up program, a study of 90 coaches and 1,492 high school female soccer and basketball athletes found. In the journal Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, researchers wrote that only two athletes under the neuromuscular warm-up group sustained two lower extremity injuries, compared to 13 in the control group.
