EE Times Europe interviewed Jan Jaap Bezemer, director of marketing for microcontrollers at NXP Semiconductors, about the chipmaker's strategy for its new LPC111x line of 32-bit microcontrollers based on the ARM Cortex-M0 design. With pricing for the parts starting at 49 cents per device, NXP is going after customers who would usually specify 8-bit microcontrollers, offering higher performance with greater energy efficiency with the LPC111x, Bezemer says.
