Immigration and Customs Enforcement will begin a training program for its immigration agents and will study deportation cases carefully to avoid banishing undocumented residents who haven't committed criminal offenses. In August, the agency announced that it will examine 300,000 deportation cases to allow law-abiding illegal residents to stay. ICE says the moves are "the next steps toward fostering discretion and ensuring uniform application."
