With advancements in veterinary medicine such as MRI, advanced surgical procedures and chemotherapy, owners have more options for treating their pets, but these also come with a high price tag. Despite economic hardships, many owners find a way to pay. "The human-animal bond is stronger than it's ever been," says Dr. Rene Carlson, president of the AVMA. "And so people are really attached to their pets, and they want the best quality care for them."
