A book by author Tom Fields-Meyer, the father of a son with autism, supports the idea that autism should be accepted rather than cured, part of a larger movement within the autism community. One group, the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, supports this message and the idea that priorities should focus on equal opportunities for those with autism and giving those with the disorder a voice in the debate, says Ari Ne'eman, the group's president and co-founder.
