Denmark protects the rich mineral reserves of Greenland with the Sirius Patrol, led by Greenlandic sledge dogs, which are specifically bred for fitness and power. In a five-year tour of duty with the Royal Danish Navy, the dogs live and work in the frozen tundra, pulling a two-man sled team more than 12,000 miles and sleeping outside in subzero temperatures.
